My Role

Destiny and I were collaborative throughout the process of designing both the brochure and the news release. My role was to first create a document with instructions so that we knew exactly what we were doing then we started drafting. Destiny and I each did about half of the body text and I added the contact information piece at the end and some more details from the brochure in the middle that I thought were important to sell our product. I also created the BOGO piece at the end to make people have a reason to act now. I shared this draft with Jesse to be peer-reviewed. For the final draft Destiny and I agreed there was not much to improve on, so we each made final edits.

Reflection

It was hard to decide what to change from our first draft of our news release to our final. From the peer review session, Destiny and I did not get any constructive criticism or ideas on what we could change or add. The positive feedback we got from our peers included the fact that it was informative and readable for our target audience which is primarily college students, we did a good job promoting our shoe design without the use of promotional words, they liked how the text was broken up into information and quotes, our logo design was catchy, and we effectively included the who (college freshman) what (shower shoes) when (now) where (Biddeford, ME) and why (because college students struggle with shower shoes). They also liked how the piece at the end read ‘Share the love of clean feet with your roomie no matter if you’re in college or not!’ because it is not exclusive to just college students although that is our primary audience.
