The main communications I used throughout this endeavor were Facebook (UNE Sustainability), Instagram (@sustainableune), and our ECO-BUZZ BLOG 2.0:

The purpose of using these platforms is to inform and educate the community on sustainable actions and events happening at UNE. It is important that everyone who wants to be more sustainable on our campus has the resources and support to participate.

The strategy of using blog and social media posts to inform the community was very successful in my opinion. It is hard to tell how many people read our blog, but it is obvious we have had an increased following on our social media pages.

Facebook received an increase in followers and engagement. Instagram had an increased following, increased number of average likes on each post, and has been shared with other UNE affiliated accounts as well as tagged in UNE environmental posts. We also posted some contests for UNE students to win.

The Sustainable UNE Blog had an overall facelift and has relevant information and posts on recent events. I planned to document our events during Earth month on this platform but unfortunately, most of these events were not be able to happen due to COVID-19. I also created a page dedicated to the Eco-Reps on our blog.

Another communication mechanism we use at UNE are Leaflets which are placed on the tables of all our dining locations on campus. It’s a great way to spread information easily and is updated each month.
